“Structure” is not a four letter word…

Structured Settlements” seems to sound a bit taboo to some attorneys and settlement recipients.  Why?

There has long been the notion that a structured settlement is a tool used to trap people away from their settlement, and to repress their funds under lock and key.  This distorted view isn’t helped by the outlandish media perception that JG Wentworth and other financial bullies have spent millions of dollars to paint for the mass media with their catchy commercials.

Structure, in its basic noun function means; build, construct, repeat.  All of those words seam pleasant enough, how could they be given a negative appearance?  The shoe doesn’t always fit, that’s how.

In the United States, we are a society of consumption, and we are quite good at it too.  When we go to buy a car it goes through 125 point inspection.  When we buy a pair of jeans we try them on.  When you buy items online we research the item, the seller, and pretty much everything else under the sun.  However, when we find ourselves making some of the biggest decisions of our lives, settlement planning for instance, we seem to take the easiest and quickest route.

Structured Settlement Planning affords settlement recipients and attorneys the ability to build, construct, and repeat.  Structured Settlements are the first part of the equation; however, there are many heroes in this story.   Having a Structure Settlement Consultant that is able to see the big picture for recipients while just as importantly giving immense attention to all the small details is the key to being placed with a structured settlement that truly fits.  When a settlement recipient is presented with multiple options that account for the turbulence and planning of life, then all seems good in the world and structured settlements will be utilized appropriately by the masses.  Until then people will continue to believe that structured settlements are no more than a ball and chain when in reality it is their knight in shining armor.

Structured settlements for minors

When there is a personal injury settlement involving a minor, a prudent approach on what to do with those funds is placing them in a structured settlement.  The utilization of a structured settlement can eliminate costly start-up and recurring guardianship fees that eat into the minor child’s recovery.  A structured settlement provides tremendous flexibility on when the minor receives the money after reaching the age of majority.  Payments can be established for attending college, the purchase of a car, a down payment on a home; the list of life’s milestones goes on.

If you are an attorney or parent and want to look after the best interests of a minor involved in a settlement, setting up a structured settlement should be discussed before any settlement funds are disbursed.

Delta Settlements Recognized as FJA Legacy Sponsor

Delta Settlements was recently recognized by the Florida Justice Association as a Legacy Sponsor.  Delta Settlements has been a very proud supporter of the FJA for many years.  This year the FJA asked the Delta Settlements’ Management Team to rise to the occasion and help fill the shortfalls of their other campaigns.  It is hard to say no to such an important organization.

Thank you to the FJA and all of the other Business Eagles for what you do.
